Discovering New Music. Case Study: Cave In

Those in the know would agree…

Discovering new music is simply amazing. If it’s something you emotionally connect with you find yourself in a perfect rapture… in an intense state of happiness… an unusual sense of euphoria… it is like you get carried away by this overwhelming emotion!

Until 6th grade, my music knowledge was limited to what I got exposed at home. It wasn’t bad, though, as my lovely mum and brother were music nerds themselves. At 7th grade, I started to dig through boxes at the local record store and asked the owner, the wise old man, to recommend me some music… He would ask me what I liked the most and play me something he would consider to be similar… He introduced me to a lot new music that year. You see I had my own streaming service algorithm going back then 😀

ENTERPRISE EARTH release ‘Sleep Is For The Dead’ music video

Spokane, USA metal band ENTERPRISE EARTH have released a another music video for a new track called ‘Sleep Is For The Dead’ today.

“‘Sleep Is For The Dead’ is about digging deep inside myself when the world turns it’s back on me,” says vocalist Dan Watson“It’s about peeling off the exterior shell that our society plastered on the outside and awakening the true inner version of myself rather than suppress it to fit into the cookie cutter mould that society tries to pressure us to fit into. I would rather be awake and face the pain than be asleep and suppress it.”

Last month the band announced a series of 2019 tour dates. The first stint will be a headline run with AETHERE supporting. Those dates kick off in Victoria, BC on March 12, 2019. The second leg will be alongside LORNA SHORE starting in Providence, RI on March 29, 2019.

“We are very excited to embark on our first headlining and co-headlining tours in support of our new album,” says Watson. “This marks the start of a new era for the band and we cannot wait to unleash our best work to our fans. See you soon in the USA and Canada.”

UK Dates are planned for mid 2019.

ENTERPRISE EARTH was founded in 2014 by ex-Infant Annihilator vocalist Dan Watson and ex-Takeover guitarist BJ Sampson. Taking their name from a confluence of Illuminati and other conspiracy theories, the band released their debut EP titled XXIII and a full length, Patient Ø, in 2015. Patient Ø featured Oceano vocalist Adam Warren and debuted at number five on Billboard’s Heatseekers/Top New Artist Chart. Last year the band released Embodiment, their second LP and have since shared the stage with Chelsea Grin, Whitechapel, and Winds of Plague with a highlighted appearance on the 2016 Summer Slaughter Tour.

Threshold – Legends of the Shires: A Life Retrospective

AUTHOR’S NOTE:
This is a largely autobiographical story about me and a real person, with real dates, though some events have been slightly altered or interpreted from the album itself for creative license, and names omitted out of great respect for the person involved.

This is the story of my life before, with, and after the person that I met as a result of this very album, that predicted every one of those things would happen, and yet ultimately predicted that pain would end and this new journey I am about to embark upon would come from it. It is written as a message of thanks to everyone who has supported me during the worst times of my life, to bring me to the greatest moment of my life, and a message of hope that no matter how far you’ve fallen and how much you’ve lost, there is always a new tomorrow.

My Very First Post at the Magazine! Celebrating Our Seventh Year!

I know there are some of you out there who know me from various social networking sites for the songs, reviews, articles, photos and, videos I constantly share…

I now know that the music freak in me will not rest… Going through the motions of life, I often find myself exploring the  Northern European bands ever increasing in number but keeping it straight quality-wise; or digging out the gems hidden in the side projects of the musicians we all know and love… My passions manifesting themselves in the form of band management, promotion, booking, planning and all that in the past are now maturing into something more…

Andrew’s Top 25 Albums of 2018 – in 3 sentences or less each

I have been a primarily prog and metal listener for many years, but dramatic personal upheaval in 2018 has led to a drastic change in musical tastes and significantly affected my experience with some of these albums. Normally I make a list of my top 30 albums, but because I have become drastically more selective in listening to albums, either for the first time or as a repeat listen, I have cut it down to 25 this year to better reflect the albums I truly enjoyed and would replay again and again. Links to full albums, if possible, are available; you will get as much as I can provide otherwise.

EVA KATHRYN DEBUTS FIRST MUSIC VIDEO

SINGLE RELEASED ON RADIANT RECORDS

November 1, 2018 – Singer, songwriter and keyboardist Eva Kathryn has released her debut video and single, “Voices”. Blending her unique fusion of genres, and ethereal alto-soprano vocals, the song recounts her childhood experiences with school bullying and peer intimidation.
Eva is joined by Koen Herfst (Armin van Buuren) on drums, Daniel Fries (Affector) on guitar, and Connor Green (Haken) on bass. Rich Mouser (Transatlantic, Spock’s Beard) mixed with Bill Evans (Flying Colors, Steve Lukather), with Evans and Kathryn producing together.
“I hope many can relate to this song, because we all have that moment when the voice in our head tells us we’re not good enough, or won’t ever amount to anything,” Eva shares. “It’s a song about the heart crying out, and saying, ‘This is who I am!’”

Lance King releases new single, “Limitless”

Legendary Progressive Metal vocalist Lance King (Pyramaze, Balance of Power, Gemini, Avian) recently had an epiphany so powerful that it compelled him to create a new album titled ReProgramthe first single of which (“Limitless”) debuts today.

“I remember it vividly,” said King. “The entire ReProgram album and all it was meant to be came to me in a flash, almost all at once, One minute I was watching the news, reading Facebook posts, exploring YouTube and thinking about how people are always at each other’s throats…and the next minute saying to myself, ‘It doesn’t have to be this way.’ In that split second, ReProgram was born. I quickly called some friends with the idea. They said they were in.”
