LOMM: Can you give a little biographical and historical info; who is involved in the band, and how did you guys meet up?
Reptilian Deluxe: It all started several thousand years into the future, the intergalactic dictator Colonel Roach decided to clone himself to better fulfill his crusade of conquering the entire universe. Five clones for five thrones. But the clones had other plans, Lord Gartallax, Master Kiununtriux, Enforcer Blowmeux, Cyber Zurrfex, and Xenotrox hatched a plan to escape from the Colonel’s bogus oppression.
They stole a highly valued piece of space paraphernalia known as the OMNIPIECE, and traveled back in time through a portal known as THE NEXUS. Arriving in the filthy streets of Puerto Rico in the year 2016 where they were greeted by Reptilian Deluxe, who helped the clones establish identities as part of a Crossover Thrash Metal band. Solidifying their bond, lighting that pipe they started their quest to destroy Colonel Roach.
Lord Gartallax: ….yes, this is correct.
LOMM: Pandemic has taken an emotional toll on everyone yet the arts have been hit especially hard. The musicians are vulnerable to financial upheaval. How have you guys have been holding up?
RD: We have transcended the need for fiat currencies.
LG: Yes, but still crack cocaine on planet earth ain’t free so we have been doing live video sessions and other virtual shits to try and squeeze some dollars outta y’all apes pockets.
LOMM: On the other hand you seem to have had a productive time. Is that right?
RD: That is correct, we decided we would compose some new music for anthropomorphic ears, isn’t that right, Lord Gartallax?
LG: Indeed, when we are not committing interplanetary war-crimes or slaying dinosaurs back in time, we are usually working on new music so here we are with a new EP, OMNIPLASM, that actually ain’t that bad at all.
LOMM: Modern sounds are my thing J How about you? What does your genre means to you, why did you choose this genre?
LG: Well when we first arrived at this shit hole planet and we connected to this thing you call the internet through our antennas, we downloaded the entire human matrix into our superior brains. Crossover Thrash was the easiest and most fun genre which where the reasons for us coming back in time in the first place. Have fun and relax from thousands of years of cosmic conquering.
LOMM: How did the initial musical and thematic elements evolve?
RD: Our thematic elements were always based around our adventures around the universe, what we’ve experienced since 2016 and such. The super-mutant alien abominations that tend to antagonize us, close calls with dying stars, etc..
LG: Yes, we have also derived some influence from bands like Gama Bomb, Municipal Waste, Suicidal Tendencies, Anthrax and GWAR among many others. We consider the combination of Crossover Metal with theatrical elements to be the holy grail of dumb human entertainment.
LOMM: Are you happy with your product? I mean, what aspects of it do you think you guys nailed, and what parts do you think you could improve upon?
LG: Yes, I think we are on the right path for planetary domination. Although, we consider ourselves to be in a larvae stage production wise. Before the pandemic several people where walking out of our show alive, we are working on that so when we get back to it, there’s no survivors.
LOMM: How has the overall reception been?
LG: The overall reception has been good. We decided to do this the legit way so we still haven’t used our mind control powers to influence humans into liking and buying our shit. But hey… cooperate.
RD: We grew in popularity fairly quickly after our first few shows. Since then we also discovered we have fans in Europe. As for the local scene, our shows are always pretty packed.
LOMM: Have you ever been on a tour? Given live performances? Is it tough for you not to be able to do so now?
RD: We’ve only toured around the solar system for the secret alien societies inhabiting the local planets, but earthlings generally still don’t know enough about us.
We do miss the local shows though, watching the humans chimp out in the pit is always such a beautiful sight.
LG: We hope when all this shit is over we are finally able to invade several other countries and islands.
LOMM: What do you see for your future? How is it looking?
LG: Reptilian can actually see into the future and it doesn’t look very good for your planet but no more spoilers. Our future looks pretty awesome tho selling out arenas all around the Galaxy.
LOMM: Could you tell us about the lyrics / themes /concepts you focus on or plan to focus on? How did the ideas come about, and how do they influence the writing process? Who is writing the lyrics?
RD: At first our lyrical themes were based on more human problems, as we needed a way to gain traction with the humans in Puerto Rico.
LG: All our lyrics and themes are reflections of a life time of cosmic conquering. On this new EP ’OMNIPLASM’ all the lyrics where written by a phantom Artificial Intelligence that has infiltrated our brain matrix. So be ready for some transcendental non-sense.
LOMM: Who is composing the songs?
LG: Currently all our songs are being composed by the before mentioned AI with a little help of me, Lord Gartallax. Never trust a band where the drummer is the main composer. Like Metallica for example.
RD: Basically we all tweak the ideas that our AI ghostwriter pitches and build from there.
Sometimes it goes a little overboard with the lyrics, but it and Cyber Zurrfex also do a pretty good job at the solos.
LOMM: What bands do you draw your inspiration from?
LG: We draw inspiration from acts like Slayer, Dr. Living Dead, Johnny Silverhand, Grand Theft Auto, GWAR, Anthrax, Municipal Waste, Godzilla and many more human constructs.
LOMM: What’s more important to you? Catering to the audience or music for its own sake?
RD: Well in my opinion as the frontreptile I tend to put all my attention into the audience, surely our stage performance is greatly fueled by the energy that the anthropomorphs bring to our shows.
LG: When it comes to catering I think balance is the most important element. Both the audience and the performance deserve equal attention for it to be a successful show with no survivors.
LOMM: When you look back your music career, what do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment?
RD: One thing we are definitely very proud of is the fact that we have self-released all of our musical productions without the help of any puny record deals, and that’s saying a lot considering the quality of sound we have aforementioned productions thanks to Master Kiununtriux.
LG: Maybe the greatest thing we’ve accomplished till now is sharing stage with bands like D.R.I and Gruesome. We also have managed to survive countless attacks from legendary bounty hunters so I guess that’s something.
LOMM: Anything else you think your fans should know?
LG: Yes! Rest assured that as soon as this shit ends we are cumming for y’all!
Also! Our New EP ’OMNIPLASM’ is going live this December 11th! Pledge ya milk drinkers!!
RD: Be ready, chimps.
