LOMM: Can you give a little biographical and historical info; who is involved in the band, and how did you guys meet up?
Well, basically The obscure season it´s my own project, my own baby…ha,ha
The artistic intentions with this its show different ways of introspective music, that’s why you can find different influences and musical directions with the running of the releases.
As some people knows I come for the metal/progressive rock scene mainly with my old band Soul Apart but I always have on mind to develop a project like The obscure season.
Until now I release a demo(“No lights in heaven”),two ep´s(“4 fragments of the brokensoul and Reflections of a static winter) and the latest single “Dark Star”.
LOMM: What does your genre means to you, why did you choose this genre?
First of all it means a challenge and I´m always looking for new musical experiences, accepting the challenge to produce something good in different fields.
As I told you I come from the “rock area” and start this project outside of it it´s challenge and a risk at the same time, but I love these kind of situations…It´s a really good way to learn about new “musical worlds”.
It´s hard to put The obscure season in one genre because until now you have electronic stuff, ambient stuff, neoclassical, classical, etc…so I like to describe all this like different musical ways for your deep emotions and thoughts.
LOMM: How did the initial musical and thematic elements evolve?
The roots of this project it´s to liberate the mind and musical restrictions and be surprised by the natural ideas that flows at the composition moment.
LOMM: Are you happy with your product? I mean, what aspects of it do you
think you guys nailed, and what parts do you think you could improve
Yes, I’m happy. I have the completely freedom to choose about the next step.
Freedom it´s happiness.
About things to improve? Well, I think continue exploring different kinds of music and develop the quality of the recordings.
LOMM: How has the overall reception been?
Nice! This project brings me the chance to meet new people with different backgrounds, and this it´s a completely interesting thing.
Also it´s interesting to see about the generational reception change with the kind of music you´re playing…and this project brings clearly the chance to see it.
LOMM: Do you get involved in performing live? What’s next? Album? Touring? Any international tours?
I confess I got loads of ideas and songs for this project already written in the value. I guess that the next step will be another ep or album. About touring it´s not on the plans by now but you never knows, let’s see what happen then…I can describe the obscure season actually as a studio project.
LOMM: What do you see for your future? How is it looking?
Creating music until the last day of my life, because music it´s my life…ha,ha.
LOMM: Could you tell us about the lyrics / themes /concepts you focus on
or plan to focus on? How did the ideas come about, and how do they
influence the writing process?
In many ways…sometimes I start to sing a melody on the street, sometimes I start to play “nothing” on the keyboard or piano, sometimes I´m listening music and I think how could it be to join different ideas of different kinds of, even joining genres.
I´m used to prepare all the music and the last step it was the lyrics, actually sometimes I start to write and I adapt this to one vocal melody. Another new influence to compose music are the paintings, and I insists it´s absolutely new for me.
LOMM: Which is more exciting? Being on the road or studio?
mmm…good question.Look, the composing process it´s the most enjoyable moment for me, I love the laboratory but when you´re on the road and you have the chance to know different cultures, people(sometimes become in friendship) and you can prove the good reaction and how the kind of good reaction change country by country it´s definitely one of the most interesting moments that you can live, not only as musician, even as a human being
LOMM: Who is composing the songs? Writing the lyrics?
Music and lyrics by me.
LOMM: What bands do you draw your inspiration from?
Ups…many! But I think Dead can Dance,Ulver,Coil,The residents,Pink Floyd,Phillip Glass have an important inspiration.
Metal bands like Empyrium or Anathema have their effects in all this as well and of course classical composers (Bach,Bethoveen,Chopin,Paganinni,Wagner, etc)
LOMM: What’s more important to you? Catering to the audience or music
for its own sake?
I think if you keep the music for their own sake the audience will support you deeply. If you are honest with you creations You´re being honest with the people, sometimes it´s the hardest way but at the end of the road this wins!
LOMM: When you look back your music career, what do you consider to be
your greatest accomplishment?
That Ive always made the music that I want to play or experiment in that moment with no restrictions.
And of course share the stage with some really good musicians even idols, it was a gift for my soul!
LOMM: Anything else you think your fans should know?
Yeah! Thanks to you all for the support through the years! Keep your eyes (and ears) open ´cause a lot of music it´s coming on!
