Bio: Playing what we would like to listen to. That was always the idea and that’s what we have been doing since 2009. Giulliano P., Cristiano Pierobon, Alessandro Queler, Tercio Esperandio and Will Geraldo have been friends since forever and each one had a different band prior to V.A.I.N. so when it all started, getting all these influences together in the same project showed that we were very mature and ready to right some new and exciting music.
Genre: It’s a mixture of so many things that progressive seems to be the fittest genre. There’s hard rock, post prog, EBM, electro, jazz, post punk … that’s why we believe that ‘prog’ works as to accommodate better the stuff we do.
Evolution of the initial musical and thematic elements: By putting all genres mentioned above on the table plus individual influences of each member. No recipes but a lot of talking and trying until the point of getting it right to our ears.
Lyrics, themes and concepts: The human being to put it simply. An endless source of inspiration. Life, doubts, the search for the unknown, sadness …
Ideas about the album: We are very happy indeed. Our third album ‘Eight’ released at the end of 2014 has taken us to another level. It’s our most creative period and songs did find their own way as if they were already there waiting to be put on the paper.
Reception: We have released this album only digitally and it had more than 5k downloads. A real achievement for a prog band coming from Brazil. Not only that but reviews also. All beautiful.
Preference; live or studio: Both. As a producer I love to be in the studio but being on the road exchanging energy with people who like what we do is a fantastic experience to say the least.
Next step; live or studio: We’ve been touring in the country and are planning some overseas gigs for next year. We’ll see.
Future plans: We couldn’t be happier. We’ve got some promo videos on the pipe and were recently invited to be part of a project which will be presented to the audience later this year.
Composers: Mainly myself with arrangements collaborations from my band mates.
Inspirations: Tool, Godflesh, Marillion, Porcupine Tree, New Model Army, Killing Joke just to mention a few.
Preference; cater to the audience or music for its own sake: Music for it’s own sake.
Greatest Accomplishment: Our latest album. No doubt.
